April Challenge: Welcome
Hello and welcome! I’m Anna—community leader, instructor, and now, newsletter writer here at Joyn. I’m so happy, excited, and grateful that you’re here. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me—a way to make sense of the world and all the big feelings that come with it. From creating cards for friends and family to whimsical poetry about the human experience, words have long been my way of connecting. This newsletter will serve as a monthly check-in—a little love letter from us to you. It’s a space to reflect, to connect yoga philosophy to our ever-changing world, and to gently remind you to slow down, breathe, and be present. It will also keep you up to date on all things Joyn. This edition wraps up April and looks ahead to May, but starting in June, you can expect a fresh letter at the start of each month.
A trip to NYC - April flowers blooming in Central Park
I write to you from the porch of my Somerville apartment, slowly sipping tea from my favorite mug. Birds sing in the background, the soft buzz of footsteps hums below, and children laugh in the yard next door. It’s one of those rare, precious evenings without obligations—where time stretches, and the only reason to check the clock is to admire how it passes. There is no rush, no pressure—just presence. I hope you, too, are met with this kind of ease today. And if you find yourself in the middle of the hustle, may your moment of pause be just around the corner.
Remember: nature never rushes, yet everything gets done.
As the sun begins to warm the earth again, there’s a palpable sense of renewal in the air. You can hear it in the streets, feel it in the energy of everyday life. Let this seasonal shift be a gentle invitation: slow down, check in, and reflect. The changing of seasons reminds us that healing is not linear. Like the earth, we cycle, we bloom, we shed, we begin again.

So—what colors will you carry into spring? Where can you invite change? What might you do more of—or less of—to support the version of you that’s ready to emerge? We’re inviting you into a monthly Joyn challenge—a gentle nudge to do one kind thing for yourself this month. Something that’s just for you. Because you are worthy of your own love and attention.
Snap a photo of your moment of self-love—whether it's a slow morning, a walk in nature, a nourishing meal, or time on your mat—and email it to us along with a short blurb about what you did and why it mattered. We’ll feature a few of these beautiful shares in next month’s newsletter as a way to inspire and celebrate each other.
In the stillness between moments, I’m often reminded that when we do less, we gain more. Slowing down is a powerful act of love.
With warmth and light,
Anna & the Joyn Family
